William James Wilkinson

William James Wilkinson (affectionately called Billy) was born on November 15, 1956, to Guvie Paul and Mary Ethel Broussard in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was the 5th of 6 siblings. His baptismal was at St. Francis Cabrini Church in Alexandria.

Billy passed away on February 16, 2025, at age 68.

He is survived by one son Robert Wilkinson, five siblings, Guvie Broussard and wife Christine, Robert Broussard and wife Lisa, John Broussard and wife Sandy, Jannie Kenney and husband Doug and Joanna Harms, He leaves 16 nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and his wife, Pat Wilkinson.

Billy was a generous, humble, and gentle man. He was fortunate in life because he found peace on his farm and with his cattle. Many a day was spent on his porch with his dog Maggie and a glass of cold sweet tea as he gazed out at his pastures.

He relished in the wonder and marvel of an ordinary life.  The joy of tasting and sharing tomatoes and squash grown by his own hand.  The infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand or morning coffee with a friend.

There was no desire for more than he knew or more than he saw. His world was simple and fulfilling.

He was a rare person in today's world. He was dependable kind and trustworthy to friends and strangers alike. He was never one to complain about the task or obstacles life presented him. It is said false friends are like a shadow, they disappear in the shades. Not Billy, he was always in the sun.

Billy faced difficult times in his life, but his attitude was not to allow them to break him but to make him who he became.

He was a brother, a father, an uncle, cousin, and friend, he will be missed by all who knew him, especially the employees of Oasis Pools where he spent 30 years of his life.

As the sun set on Billy's life and he harkened God's call, we can find solace in our faith and knowledge that the sun will rise out of the darkness.

A memorial mass will be offered
