IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William E
Mattingly
February 5, 1948 – September 28, 2025
William E. Mattingly, 77, of Bossier, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at his home. He was born on February 5, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Jesse and Frances Mattingly.
Matt dedicated his life to his family and his animals—Brown Dog, Outlaw, Missy, and Chester. He loved gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends. His greatest accomplishment was serving in the United States Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged in 1971.
He is survived by his children, Kim Gary, Olivia (Antonio) Rivera, and Michael Mattingly; their mother, Gwen Herndon; his brother, Jerry Mattingly; two grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Walker and Maegan (David) Loyed; and great-grandchildren Layla, Harley, Carter, Eleanor, and Payton, who were the lights of his life. Matt also had a host of adopted children and grandchildren who lovingly called him "Grandpa."
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Matt's very best friend and brother, Josh Copeland. Josh was Matt's companion until the very end, and they are forever thankful for the time they shared together.
A special thank-you also goes to Faith, a dear family friend, whose care and devotion meant so much to him and to all of us.
A memorial service will be held on October 11, at 11:00 a.m., at Believers Worship Center.
