William (Bill) Henry Jones April 3, 1933---January 9, 2025     A Life well Loved

Bill Jones, a storyteller extraordinaire, lived and loved life. Strangers quickly became friends and then family. Bill met his wife of 68 years on a blind date. After the date he told his mother that that was the girl he would marry. They married 5 years later after his service in the U.S. Navy. Bill was Paw Paw to his family, Mr. Bill to friends and neighbors. As a couple they were active in the Methodist church most of their lives. Bill acted as usher, greeter, youth leader, chaperon, and trustee in several churches over many years. Bill cherished the church friends that touched their lives.

Bill served on the USS O'Bannon in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. After his service he continued his studies and then worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for over 40 years. After retirement he was active with his ship reunion group and served as the secretary for several years.

Most importantly, Bill loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, she counts the dating time so 73 years, Carolyn Jones. He cherished his two daughters, Teresa Lynn Adams and Nancy Louise Jones. He proudly welcomed 6 grandchildren, Rebecca, Matthew, Allana, Jamie, Crystal, and Bear; and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother James E. Jones and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is currently enjoying the company of his parents, in-laws, 8 siblings and taking walks with Lucy the dog.

The family would like to thank the staff at NWLA Veterans Home for making us feel like family during his 4-year residence with them. We especially thank the staff of wing 4 and the activities department for making sure that Mom and Dad got to see each other frequently.

Services will be February 9, 2025, 2pm at ST. Lukes UMC, 6012 Youree Dr., Shreveport, LA 71105
