IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanda
Cowling
November 29, 1945 – August 15, 2025
Wanda went to be with her God peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on August 15, 2025. She was born in Covington, Kentucky, on November 29, 1945. Wanda was devoted to God and her family her whole life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Hazel Brotherton, and by two sisters and a brother.
Wanda is survived by her true love, James Cowling; her three children, Carl Warren, Lisa Warren, and Danny Warren; and her four siblings, Marie Harris, Brenda Chapple, Nancy Moses, and David Brotherton. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Wanda was an incredibly strong lady, mother, and wife. She raised three children on a meager income, but all of them knew that she was doing everything she could for them. Later in life, she became interested in horses and learned how to raise and train a horse to race. She went on to work in retail sales for TJ Max, starting as a saleswoman and eventually becoming a store manager. She even helped open new stores, and her work took her around the United States to places such as New Orleans, Galveston, and Seattle.
After retiring from retail sales, Wanda moved to Bossier City to help care for her granddaughter, Lauralye. It was at this time that Wanda and I met. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting Goodwill and thrift stores in the Shreveport/Bossier City area—especially on Sundays, which were dollar days! Wanda had a creative side that was truly exceptional. Her desire to paint began online with paint & sip by Michelle. The paintings went from simple to beautifully detailed paintings. Our house was turned into a home by her creative mind and her knack for finding treasures at Goodwill. She never met a stranger, and her many friends were dear to her heart.
Wanda and I shared many experiences together with friends. Saturday nights at the VFW were our dance nights, and she so loved to dance. The RV also gave us many opportunities to travel. Arkansas was our main destination, where she enjoyed hiking the mountains and trails of the state parks. At home, we continued hiking by walking our dogs. Wanda lived her life to the fullest every single day.
