Virginia Juanita (Nita) Callaway Rogers passed away on November 1, 2022. She was born on October 28, 1932, in Blanchard, LA to Elisha Callaway and Johnnie Floyd Callaway. She worked very hard to help provide for her family.  Her greatest passion was when she owned and operated the Grass Roots Tearoom for 16 years side by side with her son Jerry.  Inviting in those who came to enjoy her meals like they were coming into her home for a visit.  She loved working in her yard.  She had numerous flowerbeds and was always planning new projects that she spent countless hours on.  She would lose track of time and would be out there working after dark. She was a lifelong member of Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church.  She and the members of the Women for Christ served as needed over the years.  She also taught Sunday School and MYF.  One of the Sunday School rooms is affectionately called "Nitas' Room.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Larry M. Rogers. They enjoyed sixty-four years of marriage until he passed away on September 3, 2015.

Left to cherish her memory are children: Teddie Sue Rogers Lawrence, her husband Jimmie D. Lawrence, Don R. Rogers and wife Claudia J. Rogers, Jerry G. Rogers and wife Ginger L. Rogers.

Grandchildren: Jeff M. Rogers and wife Rebecca L. Rogers, and Jennifer C. Rogers

Great Grandchildren:  Noah E. Rogers and Ellenor R. Rogers, and many Nieces and Nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service Saturday, November 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church.  10130 Ellerbe Church Road Shreveport, La.  71106.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Manor Stratmore Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received until her passing.
