Viola King, age 93, passed away on December 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 17, 1931, in Bentley, Louisiana to Robert Gray Wallace and Mary Brister Wallace. She worked at the Barksdale Air Force Commissary, where she retired after many years. She loved to travel. She had an associate degree in criminal justice from BPCC, and worked with Shreveport Police Department, Caddo Sheriff's Office, and the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office. Mrs. King was a strong believer and prayer warrior who lived out her life as a testimony to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Preceding her in death are her parents; three sisters; four brothers; grandson Nicholas Gray Cook; son-in-law William "Bill" Scoggins.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters Patricia Anderson (Andy), Tammy Gray (Charles), and Tina Matthews; four grandchildren Tyler Cook, Michael Cook (Shyanna), Trista Anderson, and Cassie Hanna (Will); six great grandchildren Saylor and Sutton Cook, Allie and Cade Hanna, and Natalie and CJ Cook.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, from 530-730pm at Open Road Fellowship (780 Bodcau Station Road Haughton, LA 71037). Funeral services will take place at 10am Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Open Road Fellowship with Bro. Raymond Wilkinson and Bro. John Harp officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shreveport Police Department or Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office K-9 division. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Robert Savory, and Willis Knighton Hospice.
