Obituary

Tony "Big Daddy" Blake passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the age of 49 at his home in Keithville surrounded by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Michelle Blake, and their children: daughters Cierra Warren and husband Brad, Jade Blake, and adopted daughter Katie Poss. Tony is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Kylie, Ameila, Brenton, Anthony, Violet, Evangeline, Cambron, Brynlee and Gracie.

Proceeded in death by his father, Larry Blake.

Tony was born in Shreveport Louisiana to Larry and Helen Blake on August 5, 1974. Siblings are Jeremy and Clay Blake.

He worked for Progress Rail company for over 15 years until a recent back surgery which left him home with his grandbabies during the day.

Tony was an active member of 365 Church in Keithville. Tony was a founding member of the "Man Shed," a men's ministry where the men would get together and do woodworking projects, bible study and life discussions. Tony had another passion you would not expect from the big 6'3 burly man, Tony's heart was working with children and youth. Tony worked in children's discipleship club Awana's as well as working with the youth ministry at church. Tony also worked as an El Karu bah Clown for the Shriners children, which is where he gained the nick name "Tiny."

Tony was a founding member of the Panola County Beagle Club and the Blue Lightning Kennels and was a member of the Bayou Hunting Club.

Tony loved the outdoors, hunting, and training his dogs. Most of all Tony loved Jesus and his family. His family and friends describe him as selfless, supportive, funny and a great friend. Someone that would give you the shirt off his back even if it would come down to your knees. Tony had many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, one of which he developed a special relationship with. He saw a lot of himself in Jordan Blake through his hunting and love for the outdoors. He looked at Jordan like a son and he saw the immense potential he had and worked with him selflessly and had hoped he had encouraged him to do great things.

One of Tony's favorite scriptures was Luke 18:17 "I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn't receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it." Tony knew that it did not take big education and college degrees to understand heaven and what Jesus did on the Cross for you and for me. In this scripture Jesus is talking about entering the kingdom of heaven, and He encourages His listeners to humble themselves like a child and receive Him like a child. Tony's heart was for all his friends and family to JUST BELIEVE in Jesus and ACCEPT Him as their Lord and Savior. In his last days he said that if one person would come to know Jesus as he did all he went through in the last two months would be worth it.
