Thurmon L. Powell, born January 16, 1954, in Germany, was adopted by T.L. and Allie M. Powell.  The family relocated to Shreveport, Louisiana after his parent's military retirement.

He attended schools in Caddo Parish and graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1972.  After high school, he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after two years.  Thurmon attended LSU and Southern University, Shreveport campus.

Thurmon transitioned from this life on February 17, 2022.

His parents preceded him in death.

Thurmon is survived by his wife, Delores.

He is also survived by his children, Patrick, Trameshia, Saleshia, and Lakedra Powell along with three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Demonstration Church on Fairfield Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana.
