Thomas Harvey Krueper

February 10, 1942 – July 6, 2023

Tom Krueper, 81, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on the morning of July 6, following a lengthy and bravely fought illness.  Tom was husband to Rose Marie Papa Krueper, sharing 57 years of marriage.  Together, they had one daughter, Danielle Collins, and one granddaughter, Savannah Collins, both of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Tom was born in Toledo, Ohio, to parents Geraldine Krueper (D) and Harvey Krueper (D).  He had one brother, William Krueper (D) and one sister, Marty Kreinbrink.  He is survived by Ron Kreinbrink, brother-in-law, Sara Sepulvado, sister-in-law, Linda and Tommy Glenn, sister-in-law and brother-in-law.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

After graduating high school, Tom joined the Air Force and was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base.  Some years later, he met the love of his life, Rose, while working at a local service station.  Tom fell for Rose immediately and insisted he be the only one to fill her car with gas.  They were married October 22, 1966.

Tom was larger than life, literally, standing 6'4".  And while that was menacing to some, the people who truly knew him knew him as a friend to all.  Always with a smile – always with a joke.  Once Tom called you a friend, you remained his friend for life.  For over 40 years, he owned and operated Tom Krueper Home Remodeling.  This line of work suited him brilliantly, as there was nothing he couldn't fix.  Tom loved cars, he loved buying them, fixing them, and selling them…much to the dismay of Rose.  He did, after all, once have 9 vehicles parked in front of their house!  Tom was also an avid outdoorsman, a passion he shared with his beloved daughter, Danielle.  From an early age, she was taught as much as every little girl should know about fishing, hunting, camping and shooting.

Funeral services for Tom are scheduled for Monday, July 17, 2023, at Auld's Funeral Home – 7849 E. Kings Hwy, Shreveport, Louisiana.  The service begins at 11:00 AM and no visitation is planned.

The family sends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bob Massengill at Christus Highland, as well as the nurses and hospital staff both on 2nd floor and in the ICU.  They also wish to thank everyone at Grace Hospice for ensuring his final days were days of comfort and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to a charity of the donor's choice.
