Theodore (Ted) Edward Mitchell passed away peacefully on December 16, 2015, surrounded by family. He was born August 3, 1950, in Augsburg, Germany. He moved to Shreveport with his family in 1963. Ted was a 1969 graduate of C.E. Byrd High School. He joined the United States Marine Corp in September 1969 and served his enlistment until he was honorably discharged. He pursued a degree in Forestry from Louisiana Tech and graduated in 1976. After graduation, he and his family lived in Coushatta, La, where he worked as a forester. To cherish his memory and continue his legacy, Ted leaves daughter Lisa Mitchell Jenkins and husband Bob, daughter Lori Mitchell, granddaughter Maci McCullough, grandsons Connor Colvin and Chase Colvin; sister Terri Hollier and husband Buddy, brother Bill Mitchell; nephews Jason Hollier and Cody Hollier. Ted lived his life loving the outdoors, hunting, guiding big game hunts in Colorado, using his skilled hands in carpentry, and caring for his horses. Some of his favorite things were watching his grandchildren in sports and school activities, family gatherings, and watching football and old western movies. Everyone who knew Ted recognized his smile, kind spirit, and strong work ethic. He was known also for his mustache, cowboy hat, and his beloved truck, "Big Blue." He remained courageous and grateful to all those who cared for him through his illness. Ted will be greatly missed yet we take comfort in knowing we will see him again. Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. Philippians 1:3 I thank my God every time I remember you.
