Obituary

Terry Allan Bordelon went to his heavenly home on the morning of July 14, 2023 at the age of 85.  He was born on October 28, 1937 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late James and Georgia Bordelon.

He served in the Naval Reserve and then in the United States Marine Corps, as a Corporal E4 after graduating from Bolton High School in Alexandria.  Terry spent the majority of his life living in Shreveport with his wife, Martha, of 49 years.  He will be deeply missed.

Terry was a true die-hard LSU fan.  It is certain that purple and gold were his favorite colors.  It gave him great joy and frustration, at the same time, to watch LSU football and baseball on tv.  You'd most likely see Terry in an LSU shirt at some point during every week.  He did get to attend one LSU football game at Tiger Stadium in person which was an experience he loved.  Terry loved being with family!  He will always be remembered and loved.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, James Bordelon; his mother, Georgia Barron Bordelon and a sister Bonnie Lynne Higgins; his grandsons, Daniel Gilbert and Franklin Tanner.

Terry is survived by his wife, Martha Strickland Tanner Bordelon. Also left to cherish his memory are his two sisters, Rae Elaine Hedlind, her spouse Richard Hedlind, and Bobbie Jeanne Robinson; his children; Sherry Bordelon Taylor, Terry A. Bordelon, Jr., Donald Tanner, Darryll Tanner and wife, Diane; Laura Tanner Gilbert and husband, Mike; Leslie Tanner Nallin and husband, Brian.

Terry is also survived by his grandchildren; Brittani Thornhill, Candace Bordelon, Christian Bordelon, Aubrey Bordelon, Crystal Kendrick, Chelsea Howard, Reed Tanner, Derek Gilbert, Adam Gilbert, Jacob Gilbert, Aaron Nallin, Cole Nallin, Shelby McNeal, multiple great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.

Terry was laid to rest at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.

A private gathering will be held for the family to celebrate his life.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Willow Ridge Nursing and Rehab in Arcadia and Allegiance Hospice Care of Northeast Louisiana for their care, compassion and support.
