IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan Spragg
Thomas
November 23, 1957 – October 21, 2023
Susan Spragg Thomas, 65, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 23, 1957 in Ohio to the late Donald Spragg. She graduated from Byrd High School in 1975. She lived a life of service and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.
Sue believed in doing everything she could to help those around her. During the COVID pandemic, she worked tirelessly to organize food drives for the nurses and doctors on the COVID unit. Most recently, she was employed by Lifepath Hospice where she worked as a Volunteer Coordinator helping build their volunteer program from its inception. She loved the people she worked with and adored her patients. Whether it was her hand massages, playing a special song, or recording videos to become treasured family keepsakes, she made an impact on both her patients and their families. There are innumerable other examples of ways in which Sue loved those around her fiercely and tirelessly.
Sue was passionate about animal rescue and fostered many animals throughout her life. She also worked with different rescues to help facilitate the transport of dogs that had found their forever homes. Her two rescue dogs, Rudy and Morty, were by her side throughout her illness.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Thomas Prime and partner Bharat Guthikonda; grandsons Jake and Jesse Hargett; her "four friends," Sharon Lopez, Tito Lopez, and David Stamps, as well as a host of other friends and loved ones.
Per her request, a party honoring Sue's life will be held on November 25, 2023 from 5-8 pm at her daughter's home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Carley's Angels Rescue, a foster-driven dog rescue that provides senior and terminal animals a loving home to live out the rest of their days.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Tyler Lash, Dr. Jake Wang, and their staff for their expert and compassionate care. They will never truly understand what their loving attention meant to Sue and her family. Additionally, our thanks to all the staff at Carpenter House for the dignity and compassion that they offered in abundance.
