Susan Elaine Strasky Shackelford, 58, of Shreveport, LA, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023 after a brief illness, surrounded by family. Susan was born on September 7, 1964 to Carl and Jessie Strasky in Austin, TX. After Susan graduated from Bossier High School in 1982, she attended Bossier Parish Community College and studied Accounting. In 1986, Susan met Daniel S. Shackelford in Shreveport, LA. They loved and cherished their sweet fur babies; Precious and Sampson. Susan worked for Sam's Town for almost 20 years and received accomplishments such as Employee of the Year and Shining Star more than once. During her time at Sam's Town, Susan began many dear friendships.  Susan loved to cook and all who knew her, loved for her to cook.  All that knew her could tell you their favorite dish. Susan enjoyed cheering on the Hendrick's Motorports Team in NASCAR racing.  Susan was very talented at needlepoint, the recipients of her gifts often awed at how the back looked as pretty as the front.

Susan was predeceased by: grandparents, Helen and Eugene Abramowiski and Helen and Guy Whatley; sister, Melissa Shriver; father-in-law, George Reuel Shackelford; nephew, Gregory Vincent Shackelford; her favorite fur baby, Precious, who, we are sure, is walking with her in heaven.

Susan is survived by spouse, Daniel S. Shackelford; parents, Carl and Jessie Strasky; siblings, Carl J. Strasky and Benjamin P Strasky, (many in-laws, nephews/nieces, cousins).

Services for Susan will be held at Western Hills Baptist Church, 4153 Pines Road, Shreveport, LA  71119 on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Casual attire. Officiating her celebration of life will be Bro. Joey Ketchum. Her family invites you to join them in a reception after the service to share memories and some of her favorite recipes.
