Shreveport, LA - Grandmother. Master Gardener. Mardi Gras Fanatic, Bridge Aficionado and Self Taught FoodieI have done it all! I wasn't always this well rounded and southern. I'm just a little ole girl from Iowa with a very Yankee name- Susan Lenore Entringer! I was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on June 27th, 1941. Larry and I moved to Shreveport in 1964 and the way I was able to come was to tell him, "If you leave without me, then this relationship is over" and so Larry romantically replied, "well you better get in the car then". We drove through Marshall, Texas to get here and stopped at the Justice of the Peace to get married on August 10,1964 and celebrated 49 years on August 10,2013. We have been blessed with two wonderful children, Cory Ryan, son and his wife Wendy, and Casey Ryan, daughter and 5 grandchildren: Kloee Davis, Drew Davis, Reagan Ryan, Abby Ryan and Brock Boddie who all call me "The Woo" or "Woo Woo". For most of my adult life, I have been in media. I was the first female radio sales person in the Ark-La-Tex in 1964 and later on ran my own Advertising agency until 2008 when I decided it was time to retire. I hated retirement- that was the worst decision I ever made until I started to garden, play bridge and plan paradesthen I asked myself, "what in the heck took you so long to retire"? I have been touched by such creative people and partnerships throughout the years like the: Montesorri Art Auction, Shreveport Ad Federation, American Heart Association, The Independence Bowl, Super Derby Festival, Mudbug Madness, Master Gardner's of Northwest Louisiana, The Bridge House, The best Golf Tournament of ever-The Buzzards Luck, and my love of them allThe Mighty Krewe of Centaur! I have had the opportunity to build so many relationships in Shreveport/Bossier City that have lasted a lifetime and I am so thankful for them all! I want people to celebrate my life and continue the legacy of: giving someone a hand-up not a hand-out, teach a kid how to paint a picture or build a retaining wall for a garden, learn a new skill- like Bridge and then kick everybody's tail when you get good, help put on the biggest and best function or parade this community has ever seen and by all means hug, laugh and love the people and friends in your circle daily! Suzy is survived by her husband Larry Ryan, two children, Cory Ryan and Casey Ryan and 5 grandchildren- Kloee Davis, Drew Davis, Reagan Ryan, Abby Ryan and Brock Boddie. She is proceeded in death by her parents- John and Marian Entrigner, brother Jack and sister Darla Entringer- all of Cedar Rapid, Iowa. The family would like to thank Debbie Brooks and the incredible staff of Heritage Manor West, the nursing staff at Schumpert Hospital at St. Mary's, Lifepath Hospice and all of our friends who have cared for Suzy and the family over the last couple of months. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that you send a donation to the Northwest Louisiana American Cancer Society, 920 Pierremont Rd. Suite 300 Shreveport, LA 71106. Please feel free to come as you are to the memorial service.
