Born on May 8, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Rebecca and Rayburn Mahan, Steve lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unshakable commitment to making the world a brighter place.

Steve was a beloved father, son, and friend who touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and infectious sense of humor. A man of passion and purpose, he dedicated his life to spreading joy through music. For over 30 years, Steve was the heart and soul of his band, Kandu, a beloved fixture in the Shreveport music scene. With Kandu, he brought good music and good times to iconic local venues like Lee's, Bayou Thunder, and Bayou Daiquiri, creating unforgettable memories for generations of fans.

Steve's love for music was matched only by his love for people. Whether he was on stage or in the crowd, he had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and celebrated. His performances were more than just entertainment—they were a testament to his belief in the power of music to bring people together and lift their spirits.

Steve leaves behind a legacy of love. He is survived by his son, Mark; his twin daughters, Alisa and Amber; his 12 cherished grandchildren; his longtime girlfriend, Christina, and many, many friends who were like family. His parents, Rebecca and Rayburn Mahan, preceded him in death, whose love and guidance shaped the remarkable man he became.

Steve's life will be celebrated on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Hell On Wheels. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the extraordinary life of a man who brought so much light into the world.
