Obituary

Steven James Barras, 69, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away surrounded by loved ones. Born with a generous heart and a steady, quiet strength, Steven devoted his life to the people he cared about and the community he called home.

At the center of Steven's world was his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Paula Barras. Their marriage was a partnership built on devotion, laughter, and an enduring tenderness that inspired everyone who knew them. Together, they created a life rich in love, shared dreams, and cherished moments—an unshakable bond that remained his greatest joy and comfort throughout his life.

Steven will also be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering loyalty, and the warmth he brought into every room. He had a gift for making others feel seen and supported, and he carried himself with a calm patience that made him a source of comfort to those around him. Whether sharing a story, offering a helping hand, or simply listening, Steven made a lasting impact on countless lives.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Barras; their son Anthony Steven Edward Barras, daughter-in-law, Pam Barras, grandson Waylon Jackson Tyler Barras, granddaughter Kenzi Claire Ann Barras his sister, Sonja Barras Reynolds, and brother‑in‑law, David Reynolds; his sister, Sandra Barras Hahn; his niece, Jennifer McCarty, and nephew‑in‑law, Brandon McCarty; his great‑nephew, Brennan McCarty, and great‑niece, Caroline McCarty; his niece, Britt Doyle; his great‑niece, Alexis Martwick; and his great‑nephews, Ashton Burnaman and Eldon Doyle. He is also survived by his Aunt Hazel Faulk, Aunt Emma Clemons, and Uncle William Clemons, and by numerous cousins who will remember him with love. His presence will be deeply missed, yet the love he shared—especially the love he and Paula cultivated over five decades—will continue to guide those who knew him.
