Obituary

Steve Michael Butler, 67, of Springhill, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on November 16, 2025.

Born March 26, 1958, in Springhill, Louisiana, Steve was a proud graduate of Taylor High School in Taylor, Arkansas, Class of 1977. From an early age, he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for hands-on craftsmanship—qualities that would define his life and career.

Steve was an ironworker, rigger, and boilermaker by trade. He took great pride in putting in a hard day's work and was known for his versatility and skill across many trades. Throughout most of his adult life, he chased shutdowns across the country, traveling far and wide to lend his expertise wherever it was needed. There wasn't much he couldn't do when it came to building or fixing something.

Beyond his professional life, Steve had a rich array of interests that reflected his colorful personality. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Little Girl and Sassy, winning a game of pool and found peace in fishing. A passionate collector and self-proclaimed jack-of-all-trades, he loved tinkering with and restoring all kinds of items—if something was broken, Steve could fix it. His motorcycle brought him joy and freedom on the open road. When people speak of Steve, they often say he "was one of the toughest men I know". How many men are blown out of an eagle's nest and walk away from it! Tough until the very end.

Steve cherished time spent with friends and family. Whether attending a fish fry or hosting one himself, he relished these moments of connection. He was especially known for his Christmas Eve seafood gumbo—a tradition that brought warmth and flavor to the holiday season year after year.

A man of faith, Steve was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church in Taylor, Arkansas.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Amber Pearson; children Andrea Butler (Chris Clements), Cory Caraway (Meghan), Lee Butler (Felicia), Justin Cole Butler (Jolie), bonus children Ashley Whittington (Ray), Matthew Carroll (Susie), Nikki Jones and Josh Jones (Chloe). He was blessed with granddaughters;  Adriana Bennett, Madelyn Butler, Alivia Butler, Ava Butler, as well as bonus grandchildren; Kenzlee and Adalyn Byram, Trey and Ethan Whittington, Lexi and Maci Carroll, Garrett Davis, Anna, Ryder, Audree, Landry, and Jackson Jones. Left to miss him are brothers, David Butler and Arno Butler and nephews Adam Butler, Shaun Butler, and John Butler and a host of family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Picou Butler, father, Grady Elmer Butler, his baby brother William Butler, and grandparents Antoinette and Exaver Picou and Artie and Clarence Butler.

We appreciate the special friends who have been with him throughout his illness, Ricky Golden and Sheri Rich Thompson. The family also wishes to thank Shawn Vaughn for all her love and kindness shown.

May Steve's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived to the fullest.
