Kim Howard
November 17, 1940 – April 29, 2022
Son Cha Kim Howard was born on November 17, 1940 in Kyungki Do South Korea to the late Kim Su Chon and Yi Sun Tong. She met Cecil William Howard Jr. while he was serving in the DMZ in Seoul, South Korea. He instantly fell in love with her and they married on September 9, 1969 at the United States Embassy in Seoul, South Korea. She was a devoted military wife who patiently waited for her husband through war, deployment, and TDY's. She traveled with her husband and the military to Missouri, Germany, Alexandria La. and lastly Bossier City, La. She immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized American citizen. She was proud of her American Citizenship and taught her children patriotism and love of country. Her sons, Major Richard Howard and Sgt. Mark Howard, served their country in the United States Army.
Son Cha Kim Howard was immersed in the Christiaan Community in which she would find lifelong support. She was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. She was a founding member and helped build the Shreveport Korean Church of the Nazarene which later moved to Bossier City where she continued to serve faithfully. For a time she was a deacon and elder. She hosted prayer meetings in her home. She stressed the importance of Jesus Christ in the lives of her husband and children.
Son Cha's talents were many. She was an avid gardener who propagated orchids, roses, azaleas, and vegetables. She loved taking care of her aquarium and her fish bred to the point where she would have to give them away. Everything she set her hand to flourished. She was an amazing cook, and instilled a love of Korean food in her children and grandchildren. She was generous and gave to all those in need. She was a devoted friend, who often gathered together to eat and fellowship with her friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Son Cha Kim Howard passed away on April 29,2022 at the age of 81, surrounded by her husband and children. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years and 8 months Cecil William Howard Jr., her 2 sons: Richard Lee Howard, Mark (Nancy) Howard and daughter Susan (Christopher) Nugent, Her 11 grandchildren: Dominique Smith, Madelyn Brooke Howard, Maycie Claire Howard, Holden William Howard, Hayden Mark Howard, Hunter Matthew Howard, Hudson Jack Howard, Christian Taylor Nugent, Noah Lael Nugent, Enoch Matthias Nugent, Ezra Zechariah Nugen
