Socorro Maria Green, 85, of Shreveport, passed away on July 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy woven with music, laughter, and boundless love.
Though petite in stature, Socorro possessed a heart larger than the world itself—a heart that danced to the beat of music. Her hands were a constant source of creation and comfort, whether she was tending to her blooming garden, crafting beautiful stitchwork, or reaching out to help someone in need. Blessed with a voice that loved to sing and a quick, beautiful laugh, her sweet smile carried a radiant joy that naturally lifted the spirits of everyone around her.
Devoted to her faith, Socorro found peace in attending mass, reciting the rosary, and saying her daily prayers. Her deepest devotion was reserved for her family—they were her ultimate pride and the true joy of her life.
She is survived by her loving children, David Green (Rebecca Green) and Michelle Richards (Todd Richards); her cherished grandchildren, Katelyn Green and Jackson Green; her brothers, Eleuterio Ocampo and Manuel Ocampo; and her sisters, Guillermina Ocampo, Inez Montes De Oca, Esther Gallegos, and Mercedes Campos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abdon Ocampo and Austreberta Fitz Ocampo; four brothers, Antonio Ocampo, Nicolas Ocampo, Paz-Timoteo Ocampo, and Ramon Ocampo; and one sister, Eufrosina Alarcon.
All arrangements will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the St. Mary of the Pines church in Shreveport. There will be a rosary in Spanish at 9:30 a.m., visitation at 10 a.m., and funeral service at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service with food and fellowship also at St. Mary of the Pines.
