Obituary

Unfortunately, too many people will recognize the picture associated with this article today.

Being a gentle giant (6’4” - 6’7” depending on who asked), Scoey “Michael” Towery was easily spotted as a regular fixture around his beloved hometown of Shreveport. Whether he was riding around town with his top down (his dog ever his copilot) or riding with his biker leathers on, he cut an easily distinguishable sight. You’d find him offering a friendly face, a helping hand, an easy joke, or a suggestion for a better hot sauce (hint: the green one). He was specifically known as a good man who was devoted to any community he decided to join and was received in kind. A lover of a good whittling stick, he was a talented carpenter and a remarkable creator of just about anything he put his mind to. He deeply appreciated and marveled at the world around him and easily brought joy and beauty into countless lives, spreading it as far and wide as he could (without ever having to drive too far). He will be deeply missed by all blessed to have known him.

Michael Colvard Towery, better known as “Scoey” to his friends and motorcycle family, was born on November 1st,1966 to William Harper Towery and Linda Colvard Towery. He is predeceased by his father (Bill), step-mother (Sue), and his brother, Billy Towery. He is survived by his daughter, Alisha “Tater” Meyers, his sister, Stephanie Hollis (Ted), his mother, Linda Linder (Joe), his stepsister, Sigrid, his stepbrothers, Paul (Ashley) and Johnny, his four nieces, Carla, Cassie, Madeleine, and Emma, and his grand nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the many friends who cherished him, his Running Dog family and brothers, the countless lives he touched through his good works, and his beloved dog and riding club mascot Runner.

Besides being an extraordinarily loving father, brother, son, and friend, Michael was a dedicated member of his community. He spent many years in the motorcycle community before joining Running Dogs RC (a riding club known for their charity and dedication to the community) in 2020. He received his full patch in 2021 and became VP of the Running Dogs in 2023. He was also a strong supporter of the Road Barrons MC. His charitable work for the Running Dogs included cooking with the church to serve underserved communities; organizing fundraisers like the Poker Run and Corndog Festivals for Camp Rainman, a camp for individuals with autism; the Talimena Rally for St. Judes Children’s Hospital; and Veterans for Veterans.

Scoey’s towering figure could only be rivaled by the larger than life legacy he leaves behind him. A legacy that pushes us to do as he did; to seek laughter in every moment, to offer our whole hearted support without expectation, and to treat everyone we meet as a cherished friend.

The funeral and visitation will be held at Aulds Funeral Home at 7849 E Kings Hwy, Shreveport, La 71115. The visitation will be held on April 10th from 5pm-7pm and the funeral will be held on April 11th at 10am with graveside service afterwards at Forest Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Clark, Dalla, Sherm, Solo, Ritz, U-Turn, Boyett, and Jim Allen. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Eazy, Wrench, Deuce, Rusty Boyett, and Mike Thompson. This is a biker’s funeral so ALL bikers are invited to come and join the procession from the funeral to the graveside with the Running Dogs leading the way.
