Sara Ann Brocato passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Thursday, January 10, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 30, 1947, in Shreveport, LA to Rosa Lanza Brocato and Anthony T. Brocato.
Sara Ann was preceded in death by her loving parents Anthony T. and Rosa Lanza Brocato, sister Marie Brocato, nephew Tommy Brocato, and sister-in-law Marilyn Brocato. Survivors include her brother Dr. Cosimo O. Brocato III of Bossier City, LA, nephews, Tim Brocato of Martinez, CA, Michael Brocato of Shreveport, LA, and nieces, Regina Brocato and Paula Brocato of Shreveport, LA, Tommy's wife Jennifer Brocato of Portland, OR, and close dear friends Ron Norman and Kim Lewis as well as many cousins and extended family members.
Sara Ann's story is of resilience, passion, and unwavering faith. From her humble beginnings working in her family's convenience store as a young woman to her successful career as a chef renowned for her delectable cinnamon rolls and cheesecakes, Sara Ann's journey is a testament to hard work and dedication.
Her love for animals and her heartbreak over their mistreatment speaks to her compassionate nature and empathy towards all living creatures. This empathy likely extended to her culinary creations, imbuing them with flavor and a sense of care and warmth that endeared her to all who tasted her dishes.
Transitioning from the world of convenience stores and restaurants to the vibrant atmosphere of a casino as a Restaurant Manager at The Derrick Casino in 1992, Sara Ann continued to shine with her culinary skills and passion for food. Her ability to bring joy to others through her cooking and her warm personality made her a beloved figure among both customers and colleagues.
Beyond her professional success, Sara Ann's deep faith and trust in God provided her strength and guidance through life's challenges. Her mantra of "It is in His hands" during tough times serves as a reminder of her unwavering belief and resilience in the face of adversity.
In every aspect of her life, whether it be her love for dancing, her dedication to her work, her compassion for animals, or her faith in God, Sara Ann's story reflects a life well-lived with purpose, passion, and positivity. Her legacy lives on through the memories she created, the lives she touched, and the delicious flavors she brought to the world.
Sara Ann's family would like to thank the friends, neighbors, and caregivers from Professional Sitter Services (Rick, Raven, Susan & Miss Dee) and Bristol Hospice who supported her during this time. A Celebration of Sara Ann's Life will be held at St Mary of the Pines Catholic Church at 1050 West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in Shreveport, Louisiana, March 9, 2024, at 10 am. A mass will be held followed by a gathering at the Reception Hall. Please join us to honor her.
