Sandra "Sandy" Kay Guthrie Layfield, age 74, of Haughton, Louisiana, passed into the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022.  Sandy was born on November 9, 1947, to her loving parents, Arnold and Edythe Schleicher Guthrie, in Los Angeles, California.  She grew up for most of her young life on the family farm in Verona, Wisconsin.  Sandy married Douglas Layfield on January 27, 1968, celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2018.  She was a devout lifelong Catholic, who enjoyed serving her church parish through many different ministries.  Sandy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and doing puzzles and beautiful arts and crafts.  She had an amazing memory, and loved retelling family stories.  Sandy had a knack for mathematics, and worked as a bookkeeper for several companies.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband Douglas, her three children, Larry (Angela), Deena (Donovan) Landreneau, and Derek, her three siblings and families Judy (Michael) Bannow, Ardy (Paul) Spellman, and A.J. (Linda) Guthrie, and grandchildren Amelia and Celeste Landreneau, and Garrett, Lathan, Ella, Abigail, Maximilian, Samuel, and Kiely Layfield.  Thank you to all of Sandy's family, friends, and faith community for celebrating the gift of her blessed life.  Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, January 8th, 2022, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Benton, Louisiana, at 11:00 AM.  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy for the family may be shared at www.auldsfuneral.com.
