In Loving Memory of Sandra Lee "Sandy" Park
October 11, 1949 – December 19, 2024
Sandra Lee Park, known to all as Sandy, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the night of December 19, 2024, at the age of 75. She was nestled with her favorite blanket and her loyal dog tucked in the crook of her back. Born in Santa Rosa, California, on October 11, 1949, Sandy fought cancer with the same feisty determination that defined her life. In true Sandy fashion, she reached her goal of celebrating her granddaughter Sophia's birthday before she left us.
Sandy was a force of nature—adventurous, opinionated, and unapologetically herself. Her charm was unmatched, especially with her doctors, who would likely leave her appointments both flustered and amused, wondering what had just happened. Her sharp wit and bold personality made her the life of any gathering, and her presence lit up every room.
Her career was as vibrant and varied as her spirit. Sandy ran large businesses with confidence (because, of course, she was the boss), excelled as a successful realtor, and later reinvented herself as an artist. But her impact didn't stop there—Sandy was deeply involved in local civic causes. She created, helped run, and spearheaded initiatives that brought about real change in her community. Whether organizing events, advocating for important causes, or leading efforts to improve local life, Sandy worked tirelessly to make a difference. Her work in the civic sphere was one of the many ways she left a lasting legacy, and it was just another example of her incredible determination and passion for the things she believed in.
She also proved time and again that she could do it all, and her artwork, along with her no-nonsense wisdom, will be treasured by all who knew her.
Sandy is survived by her two daughters: Kimberly Shaw and husband Neil, the daughter she placed for adoption and was joyfully reunited with later in life, sharing many laughs, eye-rolls, and heartfelt moments; and Stephanie Park, her beloved daughter, who inherited her mother's quick wit and stubborn streak. And her son in law, Anthony Bobbitt. But the true light of Sandy's world was her granddaughter, Sophia Paige Bobbitt who held the top spot in her heart. She is also survived by her nephew, John Adams, who was like a son to her, and his wife, Meme Adams. Sandy's extended family, whom she lovingly referred to as "The Taylors," along with her wild and wonderful cousins in California, were also a huge part of her life. Though Sandy had a small family, she left behind a vast circle of people, all of whom are left with a bruise on their hearts.
Sandy was living proof that you could be both tough as nails and a flirt, fiercely determined yet endlessly fun. We will miss her adventurous spirit, her big opinions, and the way she could make us laugh, even when we didn't want to.
A celebration of Sandy's life—full of laughter, good food, and probably some wildly inappropriate stories—will be held on January 11, 2025, 11:00 am-2:00 pm, at The Pioneer Building in Greenwood, LA
