Ruth Wingfield, age 89, of Arbyrd MO, previously of Shreveport LA, passed away on Tuesday, February 1,2022 at home in Arbyrd with her family at her side.

Ruth was born in Winchester, VA, to Jessie Grim and Alice Cadwallader Grim on August 11,1932. She graduated from Stephens City High School, Stephens City VA, in 1950 and from Winchester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Winchester VA, in 1953 as an RN.

She was married to Lee Wingfield for 61 years. She was a Navy wife and moved from Maryland/DC area to California, to Pennsylvania, Virginia and Louisiana settling in Shreveport where they raised five children.

Ruth was active in the churches her family attended wherever they lived. Her hobbies included sewing for her home and family as well as making crafts and projects which she showed at the Louisiana State Fair. Antique collecting and selling was an interest with her displaying and maintaining a booth at antique stores. She enjoyed country music and at one time worked with a then unknown Virginia Hensley who's stage name became Patsy Cline.

After being a stay-at-home mother until all the children were in school, Ruth was a pediatric nurse with Dr. Donald Mack in Shreveport LA from 1966 to 1982. Then from 1983-2002, she was a school nurse with the Caddo Parish School System.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Winona Smith, and her husband Lee Wingfield; also 2 daughters, Laura and Lois, and a son, Russell.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Mayo and husband Mike, of Arbyrd MO; LeeAnn Sipes and husband Lynn of Salina, OK. She was MeMaw to 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families in the Virginia/West Virginia areas.
