Shreveport, LA - Rosalind Durham Trussell passed away on November 1st, 2014 after a yearlong illness. She passed away at home with her devoted husband of 52 years, James B. "Buck" Trussell, by her side. Born on August 20th, 1940 in Alexandria, Louisiana, to parents Hugh Durham and Audine Lawrence Durham, she graduated from Natchitoches High School in 1959. She was known as Rosalind, "Roz," and "Mimi." Married in 1962, Roz, Buck and their children travelled Europe and the United States as a military family, returning to Shreveport in 1982. Over the years, she worked as a ceramics artist, seamstress, candy store clerk, and medical transcriptionist; she was a fiercely dedicated wife and mother. In retirement, she and her husband travelled extensively; recently, she worked sewing newborn dresses for premature infants at LSU Medical Center. Rosalind was as genuine a person as you would ever meet. She never missed an opportunity to show you how she felt, expressing herself with a tremendous sense of humor, superb storytelling ability, and an unmatched command of her kitchen. If you knew Rosalind, then you know that there has never been anyone like her. Rosalind is survived by her husband, Buck; son James B. Trussell, Jr. and his wife Rachel of Dallas; son Scott Trussell, his wife Anita, and grandchildren Zachary, Spencer, and Katherine of Baton Rouge; daughter Susan Duck and grandchildren Alice Bostik and Andrew and Isabelle Duck of Anchorage; son Joseph, his wife Vanessa, and grandchildren Lindsey and Megan of Denver; sister-in-law Judy Durham of Shreveport, and so many others whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Audine Durham, and her brother, Hugh Durham, Jr. Memorial services will be held at All Souls Universalist Unitarian Church, 9499 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport on Friday, November 7th, at 2:00 PM. The family would like to thank Chris and Valerie from Christus Hospice and Palliative Care for their support and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send donations to the church: www.allsoulsuushreveport.org/
