Ronald Gage Johnston
Ronald Gage Johnston, 67, of Bossier City, La, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at his home with his dog by his side—after a lengthy illness and many surgeries over the last few months.
A memorial service honoring Ronnie will be held on Saturday, December 5 th , from 1 to 3 P.M. @ Aulds Funeral located on East Kings Hwy. Dr. Randy Harper of Bellaire Baptist Church will be officiating.
Ronnie was born in Shreveport, LA., on January 21, 1953. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1971. He enlisted in the United States Navy in November 1975 and discharged honorably in September 1981.
Ronnie was a welder by trade and for most of his career worked at Beaird Industries in Shreveport, LA. Ronnie enjoyed baseball, football, hunting, and fishing. For many years, he was the coach of a little league baseball team named the Rangers. He thoroughly enjoyed coaching his son and many of the same boys year after year. He even won a "world series" in Alabama as an assistant coach... What memories!
Left to keep his memory alive is his daughter: Melissa Creel, and husband, Jon; two brothers: Steve and Donnie, and one sister; Edith—as well as a niece and nephews. Grandchildren: Kade, Conall, Treigh, Brianna, Madyson, and Alexander. Also, the mother of his two children, Karen Whittington Johnston.
His son, Jeremy Scot; parents T.L. and Mavor Johnston; two brothers- Tommy Ray and Marvin and one sister, Brenda, precede Ronnie in death.
His daughter, Melissa, would also like to extend a special thank you to his long time neighbors, Al and Linda Oar, for always being a watchful eye and for always making sure he had things he needed. His neighbor, Joe, for always willing to help with Sophie, his dog, and never asked a question. In addition, Kellie and Larry, they were always so selfless and getting Ronnie to and from his doctor's appointments and hospital stays.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Shriners Hospital, Shreveport, LA., to the cleft lip and palate clinic.
