IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rodney Devon
Griffin
November 5, 1973 – April 12, 2024
A memorial service for Rodney Devon Griffin, 50, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 104 Cheniere Lake Drive (the lodge), Area 1 in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Rodney passed from his earthly life on Friday, April 12, 2024. He was born in Monroe, Louisiana on November 5th, 1973, to parents Robert and Sandra Griffin. Although considered "BIG" in stature he was the youngest of four boys and the "baby" of the family. He had a heart of gold and a sweet smile. He was a son, a grandson, a dad, a nephew, a grandfather, a brother and an uncle. In his younger years, Rodney loved to play baseball. His primary position was catcher. He loved the game, especially when he was playing with his big brother Bobby, who pitched. These two were inseparable and shared a unique brotherly bond. I'd like to think they are catching up on life and playing a game of catch on the most beautiful field in the heavens right now. Rodney loved to work with his hands by building and "fixing" things. He was in construction and traveled to many cities around the United States.
He was preceded in death by his mother (Sandra Griffin), brother (Bobby Griffin), son (Bryan Foster), maternal grandparents (Carley Augustus Dye, and Sybil J. Dye) paternal grandparents (William A. Griffin and Ester Cranford).
He is survived by one daughter Karli Griffin and Husband Corterious Wade of West Monroe, La., one grand-daughter Natalie Grace Zeigler, four grandsons, Hunter Keith Zeigler,Kolton Griffin, Jackson Wade, Klayton Wade, father Robert Ray Griffin, two brothers Tony Griffin, Sr. of West Monroe, LA, Robbi Griffin and wife Jana of Swartz, LA.
Seven nieces/nephews, Ashley Raney and husband Michael Paul, Haley Griffin, Lauren Griffin, Amber Griffin, Dillon Bull, Tony Griffin, Jr., and Allyson Griffin; Eleven great-nieces/nephews, Michael Ponsell, Harley Griffin, Gracie Raney, Zoie Dear, Michaela Raney, Delaney
Dear, Colten Griffin, Maverick Dear, Tripp Griffin, Benjamin Dear and Thomas Bull.
In honor Rodney, live each day like it was your last. Laugh and love like he did. Be there for your friends and even strangers like he was. Addiction and mental health issues also impacted Rodney's life daily. Friends and family watched time and again how the man they knew to be sweet, caring, funny and full of life turned into a shell of the Rodney they knew. His addiction and mental health issues took control of his life and although he actively battled against them, he eventually succumbed to those demons.
We love you Rodney and miss you a million times over.
