Roberta Elaine Walker age 75, was born in Scottsburg, Indiana, May 30,1948. She was the eldest of 3 children to Nina Grace Cole and Robert Williams . The children were later adopted by William (Bill) Smith in 1956.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jimmy Walker, ex-husband Gerald Acosta, and grandson Brandon Harkey. She is survived by sons Christopher Acosta and wife Debbie and Mark Acosta. Step daughter Courtney Walker; grandchildren Christopher and Ansley Acosta, and Breanne Dent. Her sister Theresa Rowe and husband Robert and brother Bob Smith and wife Teresa and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was born and raised in southern Indiana and moved to Indianapolis where she graduated from Arlington H.S. The family then moved to Shreveport with Western Electric in 1966. She was there to cut the ribbon when the doors opened and worked at the Western Electric Pilot Plant / AT&T and was there to put the chains on the doors when they closed in 2001. This was her only job and loved what she did and the people she worked with.

Elaine loved everybody and people loved her because of the warm smile and loving heart she had every single day of her life. She never met a stranger and never forgot their name. She had so many talents from crafting to genealogy researched for over 40+ years. Her and her late husband were also involved in the local pool league for several years. She had a special place in her heart for local live music as well.
