IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Robert Jay "Jaybird" Shumway
June 15, 1954 – October 19, 2024
Jay has gone gold mining on the other side of the "Rainbow Bridge" where his favorite 4 legged "people" are – Taz, Tank, and Suzy. He died at home and I choose to believe it was painless, and I know it was merciful.
Jay was preceded in death by his father, Jack Edmond Shumway.
Jay is survived by his mother Grace Williamson Shumway Taliaferro; his sister Patricia Darlene Shumway Potvin; nieces, Tambri and Katie; nephew, Tommy; 5 great nieces, 3 great nephews, 6 great great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a wonderful group of friends here at home and the Nome, Alaska gold mining crew. A special thank you for the kind and dedicated care given by Robert and Sheila.
On November 8, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. there will be a celebratory gathering held at Dak's Wings, Southern Loop, Provenance area. Bring a story, a memory or a tall tale to remember Jay.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Chimp Haven. Robert brought veggies and supplies to them often!
