Jeff Hiers, 67, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from complications of cancer.

He was born August 9, 1950 in Shreveport, LA.

As a young man, Jeff served his country in the US Air Force. He was a hardworking man who followed in his father's footsteps as a highly specialized oil field mechanic. He loved spending time on the Sabine River at the family camp fishing, relaxing and spending time with family. He loved to talk and share his memories of long-ago with anyone that would listen. As an intelligent man and avid reader, he was also enthusiastic about sharing the knowledge that he acquired and enjoyed challenging others with random trivia.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lawrence "Bob" and Barbara Purnell Hiers. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 48 years, Barbara Buford Hiers; four children and their spouses: Nikki and Mike Cross, Scott and Amy Hiers, Melanie and Chad Auchard, and Elizabeth Hiers and husband Jose; grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, Joshua, Caleb, Jacob and wife Holly, Hanna, Bailey, Caje, Reed and Sofia; great-grandchildren; and siblings: Pat Hiers, Mike Hiers, Kit Hiers and Mary Hiers Updegraff.

Jeff has been freed from his pain and suffering and is now in the loving arms of his Savior.

There will be a private memorial service held for Jeff.
