Robert (Bob) Furgerson
May 31, 1944 ~ October 12, 2021
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
II Timothy 4:7
Robert Furgerson was born on May 31, 1944 to the late John and Lelia Furgerson in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He was baptized at an early age at St. Davis Baptist Church in Frierson, Louisiana. He attended George Washington Carver High School. Later he moved to Houston, Texas where he enjoyed being with his brother and two best friends Lonnie and Earnest Smith. There he worked as a truck driver for many years. He returned back to Louisiana in 1970 and became a self-employed truck driver. He also worked for Frierson Timber Company.
At the age of 76, he peacefully passed away on Tuesday morning, October 12, 2021, in Shreveport, Louisiana after a brief illness.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and five sisters.
Robert was a loving husband and father who loved his family. He always thought Linda was the apple of his eyes. Storytelling and joking was his thing. He was a music lover and loved horseback riding until his health began to fail.
Robert loved helping people and no one was a stranger to him.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Linda Ferguson; two daughters Tara Gayle Alexander and Precious S. Johnson (Luellen); son Preston L. Ferguson (Quinshunta); brother J.B. Fergerson; sister Ida Holmes; nine grandchildren Johntez Alexander, Deon Johnson, Kendrick Sims, Nittaya Carson, Heaven Alexander, Kadarrius Carson, Jasmine Johnson, Akasha Ferguson and Paris Ferguson; ten great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Robert's final wishes were that he be cremated, no funeral and no memorial service.
