Richard Kern Wilson was born on January 22, 1952, to Chester and Bertha Wilson in Martinsville, Indiana.

Richard passed away on September 20, 2026, at home.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents: two sisters Faye Ellen Wilson and Sue Benge, two nephews Jeff Hendrix and Nicolas Hendrix.

Richard is survived by his sisters and brothers, Jean Sprinkle, Wayne Wilson, Earl Wilson, May Adams, and Mary Anne Allen. He is survived by his children, Sonnie Burris (Michael), Richard Wilson (Renee), Tammy Harris (Michael), Kristy Wilson (Rusty), and Jasper Wilson. He is survived by his grandchildren, Bridgett Eakin, Sarah Bergfels (Braiden), Matthew Burris (Danielle), Katherine Stump (Taylor), Amber Fatheree, Lisa Harris, Nathan Wilson (Brionna), Skye Bailey, Faith Graves, Joshua Wilson, Dylan Wilson, Nevaeh Wilson, Olivia Wilson, Logan Wilson. He is survived by his great grandchildren, Nathaniel Eakin, Keria Bergfels, Eliana Stump, Jakson Wright, Christian Fatheree, Grayson Saxon, Atlas Wilson along with too many nieces and nephews to count.

Richard’s greatest treasure was spending time with family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He loved collecting antiques and marvel movies. He loved to spend time outdoors working with his hands, mowing yards, and feeding the wildlife out on the front porch. He loved helping others and would give the shoes off his feet to anyone.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing he is in heaven with our loving father Jesus Christ. “Go rest high on that mountain, Son, your work on earth is done.”

A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date to allow all the family and friends to gather together.
