IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Andrew
Lawson
May 9, 1970 – July 10, 2022
Richard Andrew Lawson (Rick), 52, passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Shreveport on Sunday, July 10, 2022.
He was born May 9, 1970, on Beal Air Force Base in California. He is preceded in death by his father, Gurnie Wayne Lawson; maternal grandparents, Leroy and Trulie Woodel; paternal grandparents Richard and Donnie Lawson; and his nephew, Adam Michael Lawson.
Always the athlete and adventurer, Rick was a four-year varsity wrestler at Airline High School. Upon graduation, he joined the Louisiana Army National Guard and proudly served his country in Operation Desert Storm. Following his service, he went on to actively participate in collegiate cheerleading. He attended Northeast Louisiana University graduating with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Rick made a successful career in insurance where he spent many years in risk management.
He had many loves. LSU sports, nature, hunting, cooking, and spending time with friends and family just to name a few. At the end of 2006, Rick was set up on a blind date that changed his life forever. He had just been introduced to the love of his life, Tiffany, and an amazing love story unfolded. In 2010, they would marry, and he would ask her daughter, Elizabeth, to be his daughter too. The following year, Katlyn completed their family. Tiffany, Elizabeth, and Katlyn were his greatest loves of all. Over the next twelve years, they had countless adventures traveling, experiencing new things, creating memories that will last a lifetime. The most cherished of these experiences is the time they spent with friends and family at Rick's favorite place, the lake.
Rick's vivacious spirit will be immensely missed. Left to cherish his memory, his mother, Trudie Marie Lawson; wife, Tiffany McAdams Lawson; daughters, Elizabeth Marie Gatschenberger and Katlyn Tyler Lawson; brother, Michael Wayne Lawson; sister-in-law, Mary Matthews Lawson; nieces, Lillie Ellen Lawson and Hattie Grace Lawson; and numerous family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Rick's life will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, at 11:00AM at Broadmoor Baptist Church in the Memorial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made on Rick's behalf to The American Cancer Society.
