Obituary

Richard P. Gorham quietly returned to his Heavenly home on January 21st, 2019. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he dutifully served his country in Vietnam. Upon returning home he continued serving his community as a Bossier City Police Officer and then as a Bossier Parish Sheriff Deputy.

Born October 10th, 1946, in Winnfield, LA, Richard had a fun-loving, boisterous nature and a passionate spirit. He treasured his role as 'Lollipop,' as he was affectionately known by his grandchildren. When he wasn't at home enjoying his pups and a good TV western, he loved traveling the open road and witnessing the vast beauty of God's creation. A love he fueled in his "retirement" years by driving trucks. Richard competed in and won various truck driving championships during his tenure and in 2003 was nominated to the prestigious America's Road Team.

Richard leaves behind his loving wife, Mandy Gorham, as well as many family members who will miss him dearly. Most of all, they will miss his child-like sense of humor, bright smile and giant heart. For it was not uncommon to find Richard lending his hand to help someone in need, especially a veteran. He truly would give or do anything to help others.

Richard felt most at peace overlooking the natural beauty of the Grand Canyon with his wife beside him.

"I want to go out in the world again and see the trees and the lakes and the hills and the sky." -John Wayne
