Obituary

On Thursday, February 27, 2025, Richard Allan Gibbs passed away at the age of seventy-two.

Richard was born August 2, 1952, to Dean and Mary Gibbs. He was the baby boy to eight siblings.

His mother, father, three brothers, four sisters and beloved grand dog Lucky preceded him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years Judi, beloved son Dale and daughter in law Allison, amazing granddaughters who were the pride and joy of his life, Haley, and Caroline. One Sister, Linda (Eddie) and numerous nieces and nephews and special niece Donna Cavanaugh and her husband Dr. David Cavanaugh.

Richard lived a full life. He had many interests like racing cars, go carts and later building a BMX bike track "Close Encounters" on Linwood. He was into watching Nascar races every Sunday until #3 was tragically killed.

He later started a different career working for a local beer distributor. He then entered the Wine and Spirts world, which he truly loved. The more competition the more he thrived.

He joined the Shreveport Elks Lodge #122 and became a lifetime member. The lodge was his other family, where he made many lasting friendships. He always had a quick comeback when he was joking with his friends. He was even named Elk of the Year twice, which he was very proud of.

He loved to vacation in Perdido Key, Florida in the spring or/and early fall. Always being sure to be at Cobalt's for the 3:00 Happy Hour rain or shine.

I would like to thank so many of you for all your thoughtful prayers during this time.

A memorial service celebrating Richard's life will be held at a later date.

You will be missed by so many sweetheart, but you are now free from pain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Think First of the Ark-La-Tex, Shreveport, La., Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home, or your favorite charity.

There are no goodbyes for us, you will always be in my heart.
