Grinder Peters
May 20, 1936 – August 27, 2021
Retta Jean Grinder Peters passed away on Friday August 27, 2021 after a lengthy illness. She was born May 20, 1936 in Howard County Arkansas to Raymond and Mary York Grinder. She grew up with her loving family in Camden, Arkansas and moved to Shreveport to work at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant. She later went to work for Western Electric Telephone manufacturing plant when they opened in 1965 and became first female management supervisor. There she met her future husband Fred Peters and they were married November 26, 1970.
Jean is survived by her husband of 50 years, Frederick Dean Peters; her son, Jason Peters, wife Jessica of Palmetto, Florida and two granddaughters Elexis and Elise. She is preceded in death by her son John Peters and survived by his ex-wife Misty Peters, mother of granddaughters Evan Taylor Peters, Avery London Peters and Addison Brooke Peters and grandson Wesley Fincher.
Jean is also survived by her sister Jan Rogers of Maumelle, Arkansas and nieces Lisa Stovall, husband Mark of Conway, AR, Lynn Dickey of Maumelle, AR and Laurie Rogers of Maumelle, AR. She is also survived by great niece Jessica Pope, husband Brandon and daughters Kori, Mila, Eve and June of Colorado Springs, CO. and great nephews Zack Stovall, wife Cooper of Conway, AR, Ben Broadaway of Fayetteville, AR, Chase Clement, wife Kelsey and daughters Isla and Miri of Fayetteville, AR and Nick Stovall of Rogers, AR.
Jean is also survived by her brother Larry Grinder, wife Becky of Pelham, Alabama and nephew Brad Grinder, wife Kelli and son Michael of Helena, AL and niece Gina Palmer, husband Jim and daughters Jamie and Ashley of Ruston, LA.
Jean loved all of her family and enjoyed staying in touch and spending time traveling with them. She was a loving mother and wife who liked working in her home and yard with beautiful flowers and was a good cook and avid book reader.
Due to COVID restrictions, there will not be a memorial remembrance gathering for Jean in Shreveport. There will be a family gathering at grave side in Camden Arkansas but a date has not been decided. The family request in lieu of flowers anyone wishing to remember her may make a contribution to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Christus Highland Hospital and The Carpenter House at St Joseph Hospice for the care they gave Jean during her illness.
