The Life Reflections of Rebecca D. Green
Sister Rebecca D. Green was born on January 11, 1952 to Thomas and T. Bertha Davis in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Green accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Little Union Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. Her upbringing was in Belcher, Louisiana where she attended Herndon Elementary school.
Mrs. Green graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport May 1970 and obtained cashier checker training in May 1971. Upon graduating from high school, she worked at the former Western Electric plant which later became AT&T. Always looking for progress, Mrs. Green left AT&T and relocated to Dallas, Texas where she lived and worked with KRAFT Foods, Inc. for over thirty years. She was able to work her way through the plant and retired as an assistant to the financial analysts in the Finance Department of KRAFT Foods, Inc. It was during this time that she met Arthur L. Green and the two have been together since that time.
In 2009, Mrs. Green returned home to Shreveport, Louisiana to serve as a caregiver for her mother and to be closer to family. She was a dedicated member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served as a faithful member.
Mrs. Green was a strategic thinker in addition to a highly organized individual. Her love for people was extended through almost eight years of service as a “retirement” job at the Willis-Knighton Progressive Care Center where she worked in the social services area. She spoke with family members, gave comfort to patients and served as a beacon of Christ in that facility.
Mrs. Rebecca was people-oriented and relished opportunities to offer advice for improvement of ideas and situations. She had an eye for beautification which led her to meet other creatives for collaborations on weddings, parties, special events and celebrations. She was taught and influenced others with floral arrangements, decorating strategies and coordination of various decorating styles. She always had “just the right touch” and would frequently transform rooms and halls with her God-given talent.
Mrs. Green always had a knack for numbers. She was able to remember any number she saw. Her family was frequently amazed that she could remember all phone numbers for the family, bank account numbers, driver’s license numbers, etc.
Mrs. Green was a tremendous family-oriented person. Whenever possible, Sunday dinner gatherings were held at the home of the “Greens.” Holidays were always special, because of the coming together of family and friends. The delicious and creative expressions of love Rebecca gave through her cooking will long be remembered. She was the individual who weaved beauty, taste and a touch of love into every project she undertook.
Mrs. Green was affectionately called and known to many as "Becky." She loved to cook, decorate, shop, coordinate family gatherings, visit the sick and deeply touched all who knew her.
Mrs. Green transitioned from this earthly life March 20, 2026. She is preceded in death by her Mother, T. Bertha Washington; Brother, Gregory Rankin and Sister, Janice Davis.
Mrs. Rebecca leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Arthur L. Green; daughter, Te'Aonie Davis, two stepdaughters, Tracey Green and Kamilah Green; Grandsons, Le'Darrian Webb and Jalon Green; Granddaughter, Tracia Wade. Sisters, Carlon Jackson, Karon Manning and Beverly Smith; Brothers, Thomas Walter Davis and Marvin Washington; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
