Obituary

Raymond Allen Carter Sr., 81, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, in Frierson, Louisiana.

Born on September 12, 1944, Raymond lived a full and meaningful life defined by his dedication to family, work, and the simple joys of life.

A proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Raymond worked as an electrician for over 60 years. His career was a testament to his intelligence, skill, and unwavering commitment to his craft. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Raymond will be remembered for his sharp wit, loving nature, and wonderful sense of humor—though he often found himself funnier than others did.

Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Ann Miles Carter; his parents, Eloise and Milton Carter; and his brothers Aubrey Carter and Dean Carter. He is survived by his children: Allen Carter and wife Angel, Anita Veuleman and husband Danny, and Adam Carter and wife Sheri. He also leaves behind his brother Prentis Carter and wife Joyce; sister-in-law Penny Miles Lobdell and husband Robert; grandchildren Ray Carter, Austin Carter, Joshua Veuleman, Jacob Veuleman, Allie Shelton, and Carson Carter; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and nephews whom he cherished deeply.

Raymond found joy in life’s simplest pleasures—sitting on the porch discussing Saints or LSU football, sharing laughter about the grandkids, or simply enjoying time with loved ones. His love for his family was boundless, and he leaves behind countless memories that will be treasured for generations.

A memorial service will be held on August 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Stonewall Community Center. Raymond’s legacy of love, laughter, and values will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
