Mrs. Raniey B. Draper

Mrs. Raniey B. Alexander Draper, age 81, was born in Waskom, Texas to Raymond and Annie Williams Alexander on August 26, 1942. She passed away at her youngest daughter's home in Shreveport, Louisiana, on April 27, 2024.

At an early age, Rainey united with Antioch Baptist Church in Leigh, Texas.

She graduated from Cary M. Abaney High School in Waskom, Texas. She went on to work for Beaird Poulan and Schumpert Hospital for many years in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Rainey married John Willie Draper, and to this union, three children were born.  Shirley Draper Handy, John Willie Draper Jr. (Leatrice), and Shelia Draper Buie (Christopher), all of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children.  Two sisters, Lucy Mae Devers, of Illinois and Frances Colbert, of Oklahoma.  One brother, Louis Alexander, of Waskom, Texas.  Five grandchildren, Toitasha L. Bristo (Shelia), Shelidra J. Draper (John Jr.), Jaylen Mitchell (John Jr.), Aysha L. Draper (John Jr.), and Jercorey L. Handy (Shirley).  Five great-grandchildren, Briella J. May (Toitasha), Levi J. Draper (Shelidra), Noah A. Draper (Shelidra), Adayah M. Draper (Shelidra), and Jerlauni L. Handy (Jercorey).  Also, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
