RACHEL CHAPPELLIE OBITUARY

Rachel Chappellie, 98, of Shreveport passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, at The Guest House nursing home in Shreveport.  She was born to Joseph and Ruth Frazier on February 15, 1923.  Rachel was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James T. Frazier.

Rachel lived most of her years in Shreveport and was very active in community activities.  She believed strongly in education and achieved her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Louisiana Tech University in 1977 at the age of 54.  Rachel was a US postal employee during her years of employment until becoming disability retired.

After retirement, a great amount of her time was spent in service to the Republican party which became the focal point of her life.  During the remainder of her years, she spent countless hours in service to the Republican Women, the Women's Republican of Shreveport, the Professional Republican Women of Caddo where she was integrally involved in the projects such as the Literacy Program.  Rachel was involved in Republican campaign activities, volunteering to the staff at the Republican office and regularly attending Republican Parish Executive luncheons.  She also spent 22 years as a Caddo Poll Commissioner.

Rachel was highly respected by the Republican establishment in Caddo Parish and was awarded a lifetime appreciation award for her service at the age of 92 by resolution of the Caddo Parish Republican Executive Committee.

Rachel loved children and animals and provided childcare services, pet care services and housesitting services to many Shreveport residents including the writer who has known Rachel for over 40 years.  She is dearly loved by our family, and I am sure there are many others with whom Rachel knew who feel the same way.

Crematory services are being provided by Aulds Funeral Home & Crematory.  Per the wishes of the deceased, there will be no funeral or burial services.
