Phillip Stephen Fricks Jr went to join his Lord on September 17th 2016. Whether you knew him as Bubba, Philmo or Phil you knew his love of life. He came into this world as a fighter, 3 months premature, 42 years ago on July 11th 1974. Bubba was born with a sparkle in his brown eyes and that sparkle remained for the rest of his life. He was an employee of Roy O Martin in Boyce, La. He loved to hunt and fish even if he was secretly a fraidy-cat that was scared of the dark. You knew your outdoor excursions with him would have to wait until daylight. You were willing to wait because it was Bubba and you were in for a good time.
Bubba loved the Dallas Cowboys, even if they could arguably be the worst team in the NFL. He was loyal like that. He was keeper to all our secrets and only he had the key. His sense of fashion was terrible and often included shorts and rubber boots no matter what the season. He didn't have a coat of many colors but he did have a dew rag in any color. The word stranger was nonexistent to his vocabulary which always made shopping trips with him interesting. Good luck staying mad at him because his smile and laugh were infectious.
He loved food of any kind; he'd finish his plate and yours, as a favor of course. Bubba had his cell phone surgically implanted to his hand so he would never be without it. He was secretly an auctioneer or so you'd think because often times you'd need an interpreter to understand his phone calls. Everyone will have their own stories of him. There's a good chance you're laughing as you remember at least one of them. The story of his life will be that he loved his friends and family in way that was so special only he could pull it off.
He was preceded in his death by his brother Justin Cole Fricks, father Phillip Stephen Fricks Sr., Pawpaw and Granny Dupont, Grandmother and Granddaddy Fricks and a special cousin Dell Ray Pierce.
He is survived by his son Justin Fricks; mother Shelia Dupont Evans and husband Steve; brother Jacob Dupont and wife Devonie, sister Summer Foster and husband Randy, sister Cody Lovelace and brother in law Austin; nephews and niece Tyler, Lawston, Maddox and Ainsleigh. A large extended family that includes many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday September 24th at 1:00 pm at Aulds Funeral Home, Shreveport, La. Service will follow at 3:00 pm.
