Clarence "Pete" Melton Cobb, of Benton, La, was born in Pleasant Hill, La on March 1, 1940 to Vernice Jack Cobb and Estelle Lennard Cobb. He lived in Pleasant Hill, La for over 20 years and graduated school there in 1958. Pete joined the Army on March 23, 1962 and became a parachute jumper. He was stationed in Fort Sam Houston, Texas and was honorably discharged after serving for three years.

Later in life, Pete started up his own carpentry business, "Pete Cobb's Construction." He enjoyed building all kinds of things, but especially houses. He took such pride in his work and would always "show off" the houses he built to everyone he knew.

He was an avid hunter and fisher, and loved to be outdoors. Pete taught his children many different survival skills, such as living off the land. He had a love for old timey cars and always had plans on fixing them up. One thing he really enjoyed was teaching his children how to drive.

Pete passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 79, on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veteran's Home in Bossier City, La.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Estelle Cobb; his son, Jack Christopher Cobb; his granddaughter, Gracie Mae Cobb; and his beloved wife of 20 years, Patricia Adkins Cobb.

He is survived by his sister, Doris Dean; his children, Travis Cobb and wife Lynn; Wade Cobb and wife Remona; Shawn "Pete" Cobb and wife Christina; Lisa Baker and husband Michael; and Sonya Cobb Griffin and husband John. Grand-children, Mark Cobb; Brittany McClure; Mariean Downey; Travis Downey; Melissa Cobb; Summer Aldridge; Tara Cobb; Danielle Strunk; Justin Parker; Shayne Black; Joshua Baker; Sadie Cobb; Jack Christopher Cobb Jr.; Mallori Cobb; Annabelle Griffin; Brodix Griffin; his 18 great-grandchildren, and several other family members and friends.

Visitation for Clarence "Pete" Melton Cobb will be held at Auld's Funeral Home, 7849 E. Kings Hwy, Shreveport, La 71115, on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 11:30 am -12:30 pm. The funeral services will be at 1:00 pm with Pastor Justin Haigler officiating.  Following the services, burial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 601 US Highway 80, Haughton, La 71037.
