IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick Michael
O'Pry
October 14, 1943 – February 12, 2016
We celebrate the life of Patrick Michael O'Pry, born October 14 th , 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Pat was adopted by Leo and Louise O'Pry and grew up in Helena, Arkansas. He had a "larger than life" personality, and his love for the saxophone spanned over sixty years. At age thirteen, Pat drove a car to play the sax in paid gigs. In college, he attended University of Arkansas on a music scholarship and joined The Jokers. Pat spent most of his life in Shreveport, Louisiana, and played music with his best friend, Jimmy Johnson, until three weeks before his passing. In the 1960's, he and Jimmy played in The Peermonts, which had two Top 40 hits with "You Got to Love Me Too" and "When the Sun Goes Down". Pat's children include Leo, Paige and her husband, Chet, Kristi, Meg, Amy and her husband, Burke, and his step-son, Caylan. He was "Happy" to seven grandchildren, Derek, Shelby, Ashley, Jordan, Hayden, Caden, Burke and Jack, and two great-grandchildren, Devin and Aubrey. In the 1980's, Pat reunited with his birth family and leaves behind his half siblings Lillian, Kathleen, Micaleen, Jimmy, Bobbie and Jessie. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Donna, half-brothers Edwin, John and Merrill, and his two children, Leo and Kristi. Pat was a Saints fan, and an avid fisherman who loved Toledo Bend. We are most thankful for his wife, Jewell, who took wonderful care of him until the end. Pat was surrounded by those who loved him most and enjoyed laughing and cutting up with family and friends. Many thanks to St. Joseph's Hospice for their ultimate care and support. A memorial service in honor of "Pat Ever-Ready O'Pry" will be held Wednesday, February 17 th , 2016 at 2 pm at Aulds Funeral Home in Shreveport, Louisiana.
