Obituary

Ouida Carpenter Tompkins, born June 12, 1931, passed away on April 5, 2012. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 60 years, Golie, whom she has cared for tirelessly over the past few years as he has suffered from dementia. She also leaves behind her daughter, Susan Brown (Gil), and grandaughter, Christian Brown, of Elk, WA, as well as siblings, John Carpenter (Lakeland, FL), Dewitt Carpenter (Fairbanks, AK), Doris Terry (Bryam, MS), Mary Buckels (McCall Creek, MS) and many neices and nephews. Ouida was a very unique, unforgettable individual, never met a stranger, and was known and loved by many. She obtained her associates degree in nursing, and was a hospice and meals on wheels volunteer in her earlier years. She previously attended First Baptist Church of Bossier. She was talented in sewing, oil painting, and creative writing. She was known for her letters- funny, full of wit and a treat to read. She has been set free from the worries and burdens of this world, and is now free indeed in Christ Jesus, enjoying His peace, love, and care forever. She will be buried in her home town of New Augusta, MS.
