Oliver Stanley (Stan) Chapman of Minden, Louisiana was born on September 2, 1947, in Monroe, Louisiana and went to meet his Savior on October 20, 2023, at the age of 76.  After completing high school, Stan served in the Air Force for four years.  Shortly after, he began his career with Western Electric/Avaya.  He diligently worked there for 37 years with perfect attendance before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Shirley Chapman and his mother-in-law, Chloteal Knotts, who was like a second mother to him.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Knotts Chapman; one brother, Gary Chapman and his wife, Glenda, of Longview, TX; two nieces, Tonia Chapman of West Monroe, LA and Jennifer Nagel and her husband, Leonard, of Tampa, FL; one step nephew, C.W. Harvell, of Samford, NC; and numerous other family and friends.

Stan was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed deer hunting with a recurve bow and loved fishing in his old pirogue.  He also spent many hours bird watching.  One of his favorite places to visit was the Red River Refuge and sitting on the back porch in the rocking chairs with his friends.  He often volunteered at the refuge.  One year he took part in the children's fishing tournament that was held there.  Stan also had a great love of music.  Stan was gifted with a beautiful voice and quite a great talent for playing the guitar.

Stan's greatest dedication was taking care of his wife, Betty and all their many furbabies...cats, dogs, and chickens.

Stan was a good and kindhearted man and was always willing and ready to help others when he could.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on November 16, 2023, at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, Louisiana 71115, in the chapel.

A tree will be planted later in his memory at the Red River Refuge.  A rocking chair will also be donated in his memory.
