IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Olive
Cheatwood
September 2, 1941 – June 5, 2023
Olive Frances Hammett Cheatwood, a longtime resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, died peacefully at her home on June 5, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
Frances was born on September 2, 1941, and spent her childhood in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She married Sidney Cheatwood of Arcadia, Louisiana in 1959, and they moved to Shreveport in 1960. Sidney and Frances raised three daughters, Gayle, Jean and Julie and owned and operated Baby World of Shreveport until they retired in 2014.
Sidney and Frances were married for 56 years until Sidney preceded her in death in 2015. Frances is survived by her three daughters Gayle Walker of Seligman, Missouri, Jean Williams of Shreveport, Louisiana and Julie Scott of Bossier City, Louisiana and her three grandchildren Emily, Mark and Courtney and her three great grandchildren Mitchell, Aiden and Emma.
A Private memorial service for the immediate family will be held at a later date. Frances was a dog lover and happiest when at home with her dogs. She spent many hours in her later years aiding in caring for the many rescue puppies taken in by Louisiana Baby Mommas, a 501C dog rescue founded by her daughter Jean. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Louisiana Baby Mommas (lababymommas.org) or the charity of donor's choice.
