Nina Catherine "Cathy" Bailey Weaver, 77, died October 30, 2021 following a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at the Shreveport Elks Lodge #122, 310 East Preston Ave., Friday November 5, 2021 at 10:30am.

Mrs. Weaver was born in Shawnee, OK on July 3, 1944. She was a graduate of C.E. Byrd High school and Louisiana Tech University where she also earned a Masters of Business Administration. Cathy was a proud member of the Chi Omega sorority. Shortly after receiving her MBA, she moved to Bellevue, NE and met her husband Dave. Dave loved his Nebraska Cornhuskers and Cathy instantly embraced the Huskers. They were season ticket holders for many years and traveled to numerous away games to support their beloved team. Go Big Red!

Cathy was a banker for most of her career, with over 20 years of service with the Farm Credit Bank in Omaha, NE. She was active in the Presbyterian church both at First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue, NE and First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport where she served as a deacon and enjoyed teaching her church circle group.

Cathy was Secretary of Shreveport Elks Lodge #122 for several years and she and Dave were active members throughout their retirement. Cathy's mother Adaline was a librarian and passed down her love of books and reading to Cathy who was an avid reader logging thousands of books read during her life. She loved to know what everyone was reading and started a book exchange library at the Shreveport Elks Lodge to help spread her love of reading to others.

She was preceded in death by her husband David R. Weaver and parents Lee C. Bailey and Adaline G. Bailey. She is survived by her loving family including children Nina Kavanaugh of Atlanta, GA, David E. and Laura Weaver of Omaha, NE, Susan L. and Brian Shellito of Akron, OH, Tom Weaver of Denver, CO; brother Robert G. and Kay Bailey of Houston, TX, grandchildren Amy and Greg Neher of Kettering, OH, Ginny and Gabe Seibel and Craig and Paige Fielder of Atlanta, GA, Reilly Shellito and Georgia Shellito of Akron, OH, Chase and Bre Weaver of Omaha NE, and Caitlin and Taylor Thomas of Longmont, CO; great-grandchildren Georgia Seibel of Atlanta, Bianca Neher of Kettering, OH, Silas, Irina and Juvenaly Weaver of Omaha, NE and Anders Thomas of Longmont, CO.

The family would like to thank the members of the Shreveport Elks Lodge #122 for their friendship, love, and support. Special thanks to Michelle Poe for being such a wonderful friend and caretaker for Cathy.
