Nelwyne Searcy Burks was born March 2, 1926 & went to Heaven April 2, 2023. Daughter to Eula Pearl McBride Searcy & Sumpter Searcy. 1 0f 6 children. Predeceased by her parents & siblings, Sherwood Searcy, Muriel Macklin, twins Allene Woodall & Alvin Searcy, her husbands, Jack Burks, Dallas Wilson & Curtis Petty. Also, son, Kevin & Tristan Donehoo.
She is survived by her baby sister, Patty Ledbetter Word, Daughter, Janene Burks, son, Jay G. Burks, Jr., his sons Jack G. Burks, III & Tara, son Jack G. Burks,4. Jonathan Michael Burks, wife Claire , and their children Everett & Hadley. Also survived by Kevin's daughters, Juniper & Austin Sandate & Jessica & Gary Donehoo & children, Trent & Cheyanne, Daughter Marilyn. Trinity, Trysta & Triton. Son, Paul & Brandy & daughter, Chasity. Survived by many adoring nieces & nephews.
Nelwyne & Jack graduated from Bossier High Bearkats '43. Proud to be football state champs '42. Jack went to war, B29 tailgunner. Nelwyne was a Service rep. South Central Bell. They were married Dec. 2 '45. She continued working while Jack graduated with a B.S. degree from Centenary. After being married 12 yrs & no children, she quit work & soon had Jay, then Timothy Kevin, finally a girl, Janene. Nelwyne was the 1 st homemaker in Western Hills. Almost the last original. She stood strong after Jack died, to raise 3 kids alone. She loved her yard, singing & dancing. Sweet Adelines '70s, Prime Time Singers.
To know her was to love her! She was beautiful with a zest for life! Described by many as joyful, amazing, wonderful, kind, sweet, precious & a bright light. She loved well & was loved even more. Along life well lived! So proud to be her children, with love & admiration.
