The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 5:00pm til 8:00pm. Arrangements by Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA Mrs. Lytle was born on January 8, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri and was adopted shortly thereafter by Dr. T. H. David and Jennie David. She lived in Siloam Springs, Arkansas until her marriage to Joseph Frederick Lytle, the love of her life, on February 25, 1940, at which time she moved to Shreveport, where she and J. Fred raised eight wonderful children. Nellie Lytle, 87, went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 23, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Nellie was a member of the Mother's Club and served on the PTA in several capacities while her children attended Fairfield Elementary School. She was awarded a lifetime membership in the PTA for her many years of service. Nellie was also a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church for 68 years. During those years she served as a teacher for toddlers, teens, young married couples and ladies. Nellie's hobbies included sewing for her children, painting holiday greetings on the picture window of her home, tinting photographs of her family, and tole painting. She also loved writing poetry, short stories, and published a cookbook titled "Just Plain Ordinary Cooking Hints for a New Bride". She was an awesome cook! After raising her eight children, Nellie and her husband J. Fred opened an art and craft store called Lytle's. Her husband testifies that her artistic ability and caring personality inspired art in the lives of many people in the Ark-La-Tex and beyond, and he attributes the success of their 37 years in business to his wife. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her youngest son Frank Kane Lytle, granddaughter Laura Judith Simmons, son-in-law Billy Wright and sister; Edna Parker. Mrs. Lytle was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 68 wonderful years, Joseph Frederick Lytle; her sons, David, Mark, and Leo and wife, Valerie; her daughters, Judy Simmons and husband, David, Jane Gill and husband, Kent, Jill Baillio and husband, Robert, and Jennie Wright; 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. All of Nellie's children would like to thank our Daddy for his faithful, dedicated and tender care of our Mama during her illness. To know her was to love her! Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. A special thanks to the Christus Schumpert Hospice program for their tender care.
