Mildred Edith Hodnett Ducote was born in Dry Prong, Louisiana on October 18, 1940, and passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at her home in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Odus and Cora Faircloth Hodnett; brothers, Odus Lee Hodnett and Leon A. Hodnett.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Carl W. Ducote of Shreveport, LA; son Darrell W. Ducote, and wife, Lisa of Greenwood, LA; and daughter, Cindy D. Walker and husband, James of Naples, FL.  Also, a sister, Velma Bird and husband, Terry of Alvin, TX and brother, Edward "Bo" Hodnett of Dry Prong, LA.

Mildred was so proud, and she truly loved and cherished her six grandsons, Wayne Ducote, Drew Ducote, Dale Ducote, William Walker, Jared Walker, and Jacob Walker.  The next generations of Ducote's brought love and joy to her life.  Her seven great grandsons are Bryce Ducote, Trace Ducote, Maddox Ducote, Braxton Ducote, Maverick Ducote, Kase Ducote, Westin Ducote, and newest step great grandchildren, Shepherd and Stetson.  She held a special spot in her heart for granddaughter-in-laws, Emily Ducote, Brooke Ducote, and Jennifer Ducote.

She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

She was called "MeMaw" by everyone.  She loved family gatherings, her heart held love for everyone and when she was still able to cook her gumbo was probably the most requested dish from all of us.  She will truly be missed, although we all have lots of memories of her to hold on to.

The family would like to thank Willis-Knighton Hospital and St. Joseph Hospice for all their compassionate care and comfort in her final days.

A visitation will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Williana, Louisiana. Funeral services will start at 1:00 PM at the church.  Interment will be at the Liberty Chapel Cemetery.
